Consumer prices · 1,834 categories · latest 2026-09-01
The same category from more than one publisher. The national statistics office is the record; the IMF's series are its own compilation and can differ in definition, coverage and vintage.
Statbel publishes the consumer price index in every reference base it maintains; each base is a separate published family and none is rebased here. The 2025=100 family carries the current ECOICOP v2 product groups from 2006, the health index, the smoothed health index used for wage and benefit indexation (including the 2015-16 index jump), and the indices without energy or petrol products. Current HICP and constant-tax HICP use ECOICOP v2, with separate 2015=100 and 2025=100 presentations. Their source-reclassified history is not spliced to the original ECOICOP v1 history, even where codes or reference years match. The retained original ECOICOP v1 HICP and constant-tax HICP histories end in December 2025 and are not comparable code for code with ECOICOP v2. The source publishes no index for May 1940 to December 1946 and omits some product groups for finite periods; those months remain gaps. Before 1980 Statbel's published inflation differs from its own rounded indices by up to about one percentage point; both are kept unchanged. Source codes without a published label are shown by code and are outside the named current BeStat catalogue. Published BeStat annual rates are retained even where they differ slightly from index ratios. Published headline monthly changes take priority; absent monthly periods and genuinely unpublished quantities use the same family's index, with that provenance declared. Related bases remain separate chart lines; cross-classification discovery links do not establish comparability.
