What building it taught us

The connector's own docstring, verbatim. It lives beside the code so it cannot drift from it.

Statistics Netherlands (CBS): current and historical consumer prices.

CBS publishes current and archived StatLine tables as open data under CC BY 4.0. The complete CPI catalogue includes detailed 1995, 2000, 2006, 2015 and 2025 reference families, the separately published constant-tax (derived) CPI, HICP, older headline bases, household baskets and analytical indices. Annual observations are CBS's published annual figures, never a local resampling.

One immutable bundle contains all metadata and every page of the selected official tables. A catalogue inventory beside this module documents the scope. Contribution/impact statistics, average prices, rent statistics, other-country comparisons and the separate Caribbean Netherlands jurisdiction are outside this national index/rate/weight dataset. No national code is mapped to COICOP.

Identical headline presentations and the detailed/summary 1995 overlap are checked and deduplicated. Distinct reference bases, tax treatment, household population, classifications and rolling averages remain separate. In the 2015 table some retired categories explicitly retain 2000/2006 bases; hospital services restart at December 2023=100, and two categories begin at December 2024=100. These source-published boundaries are separate identities. Source blanks remain blanks; neither values nor rates are reconstructed here. CBS's explicit recalculated 2011 monthly indices belong to its continuing 2006-base history; the original 2011 indices and rates remain a separate labelled slice. CBS publishes no recalculated 2011 monthly/annual rates in those table rows.
