Consumer price index

Source

The same category from more than one publisher. The national statistics office is the record; the IMF's series are its own compilation and can differ in definition, coverage and vintage.

CPI component

SBS publishes headline, underlying, local and imported components as separate source identities on the February 2016 basket. The replaced 2010-base family is not spliced.

The complete SBS CPI catalogue and all 84 date-addressed English or Samoan workbooks were archived. The headline SDMX family is continuous from January 2011 through July 2026 and the current workbook extends August 2026. Analytical component gaps are in the source archive: older catalogue URLs are overwritten by December files, three 2021 releases contain Samoan-only tables, three 2022 files have no cached monthly formula values, and five later links contain a different release month in one or more tables. The connector rejects the mismatched release as a unit, retains every raw file and never interpolates or silently splices the retired 2010-base basket. The finite dates above settle only the reviewed archive gaps; new missing dates remain open.

The immutable SBS monthly workbooks publish these rate cells. Their comparison-date rows establish MoM versus YoY independently of changing worksheet order. Several archived rates disagree with the final assembled index history because later releases revise comparison levels, and a small number of workbook formulas are internally inconsistent. The values are therefore source-published, not a unit, identity or period-join defect. Preserve the published rate and warn readers rather than replacing it with a derived value.
